COSHH QUALIFICATIONS
Working with substances is common in many workplaces. These workplaces include anything from cleaning to construction. As part of good health and safety management the employer is responsible for undertaking a risk assessment and implementing appropriate controls. These controls may include providing appropriate training. A regulated qualification is the ideal way of demonstrating a commitment to effective training, delivered by competent providers. Learners achieving this qualification will understand the law relating to hazardous substances in the workplace, how risk assessments contribute to the safe use of hazardous substances, and the precautions and procedures necessary to ensure that risks are properly controlled.

FOOD SAFETY QUALIFICATIONS
The law requires that all food handlers need to be trained according to their food handling work activities. Should an employee achieve an IOSM food safety qualification, which is suitable for the work they do, it will assist food business operators in proving that they have displayed due diligence and are therefore compliant in the eyes of the law.
IOSM's food safety qualifications are intended for anyone working in catering, hospitality or manufacturing settings where food hygiene is essential as food is prepared, cooked, served or produced. Typical environments may include pubs, hotels, restaurants, retail, factories, contract catering, fast-food outlets, hospitals, care and nursing homes, schools, prisons and the armed forces.

FIRST AID QUALIFICATION
All organisations must ensure by law that they have a sufficient number of employees who possess a first-aid qualification to fulfil their first-aid needs at all times. Employers must ensure that their provision is ‘adequate and appropriate in the circumstances’. It is the employer’s responsibility to decide what the requirements of the organisation are by assessing any specific work hazards and ensuring that sufficient equipment, facilities and personnel are available to deal with the consequences of these hazards.
As part of each assessment, the HSE recommends organisations should consider things such as the nature of the work and the subsequent hazards and risks, the size of the organisation, work patterns and accident histories.
IOSM offers the following First Aid qualifications:
IOSM Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator
IOSM Level 2 Award in Emergency First aid at Work
IOSM Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
IOSM Level 3 Award in First aid at Work
IOSM Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid

HACCP QUALIFICATION
HACCP stands for hazard analysis and critical control point, which is a systematic, preventive approach to food safety and allergenic, chemical, and biological hazards in production processes that can cause the finished product to be unsafe. It also involves implementing measures to reduce these risks to a safe level. It is essential that all food sector organisations implement a food-safety management system based on the codex principles of HACCP. Although HACCP was originally designed for manufacturing, it is now also applicable to the catering and retail industries.
IOSM's HACCP qualifications are suitable for both food handlers and supervisors working in most food operations. The achievement of a Highfield HACCP qualification will give learners a firm understanding of the principles of HACCP and ensure the cost-effective implementation of a food-safety management system. This will ultimately reduce the risk of food poisoning and food complaints.

RISK ASSESSMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Risk assessment is an essential step in helping to protect employees and businesses.

PROCESS SAFETY MANAGEMENT QUALIFICATION
Protect your people from harm with Process Safety Management (PSM) knowledge. PSM refers to a set of inter-related approaches to manage hazards associated with the process industries and is intended to reduce the frequency and severity of incidents resulting from releases of chemicals and other energy sources. These standards are composed of organizational and operational procedures, design guidance, audit programs, and a host of other methods.
A comprehensive PSM program to identify, assess and control facility hazards, including fires, explosions and the release of highly hazardous chemicals is crucial to any industrial organization’s safety plan.

HAZARD AND OPERABILITY STUDY (HAZOP) AND HAZARD IDENTIFICATION (HAZID) IN OIL & GAS QUALIFICATION
Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) is a structured and systematic technique for system examination and risk management. It is based on a theory that assumes risk events are caused by deviations from design or operating intentions. Identification of such deviations is facilitated by using sets of “guide words” as a systematic list of deviation perspectives.
A Hazard Identification (HAZID) Study is the process of identifying hazards in order to plan for, avoid, or mitigate their impacts. The strategy and steps to follow is very similar to HAZOP technique but, different key words are used to carry out the analysis.

FIRE SAFETY QUALIFICATIONS
In the UK over 1000 people are injured each year, due to workplace fires. Each workplace is therefore required to undertake a fire risk assessment. This assessment will aim to identify the potential causes of a fire in the workplace and establish controls to reduce the risk of a fire starting and reducing the risk of how it may affect people.
Employers are also required to ensure that their staff have suitable training. All staff should have some form of fire awareness training. In some workplaces there will be a requirement for trained fire marshals.
